BIO

Greetings,

I am Anton Maslyk, a sculptor with a deep-rooted passion for art and a story woven with creativity. Born into a family immersed in the arts, with a sculptor father and an icon painter mother, my artistic journey was destined to unfold.

My artistic path began at the prestigious T.G. Shevchenko Art School in Kyiv, where I honed my skills in sculpture. Fueling my ambition further, I continued my education at the Kyiv Academy of Fine Arts, specializing in the captivating world of sculptural expression.

Embracing my creative spirit, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery, working with the enduring mediums of bronze and copper. These materials became my artistic companions as I ventured into the realm of realistic sculpture. Over the years, I had the privilege of showcasing my artworks in numerous exhibitions, and in 2006, a significant milestone marked the birth of my first monument, "Fallen Bikers," standing tall on the Kyiv-Odesa highway.

Recognizing the significance of artistic collaboration and growth, I joined the esteemed Union of Artists of Ukraine, further expanding my horizons and nurturing my artistic voice. Throughout my artistic endeavors, I have found solace and fulfillment in the tangible beauty of bronze, striving to breathe life into my creations.

However, fate had a different plan for me. On February 24, 2022, my peaceful existence was shattered as Russia initiated missile attacks on Ukraine, including my beloved city of Kyiv. Bombs fell, and shelters became a necessity for survival. In the face of adversity, I made the difficult decision to send my family to Croatia for their safety while I joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, determined to defend my country.

Amidst the chaos and anguish of war, my perspective on art underwent a profound transformation. The pain, sorrow, and fear that gripped my heart, the sight of young men grappling with the harsh reality of combat, and the ethereal rays of sunlight piercing through the cracks of armored tanks—these experiences ignited a fervent passion within me. In response, I channeled my emotions into my latest creations, sculpting raw and evocative pieces from pure metal. Through my artwork, I sought to convey the indomitable spirit of those affected by the ravages of war.

As I sign off, I do so with heartfelt sincerity as Sculptor Anton Maslyk. With every sculpture I create, I endeavor to capture the essence of the human experience, immortalizing emotions, and offering solace through the transformative power of art.

Yours in artistry, Anton Maslyk
